Lion of Mine
Private residential commission, 2026
This piece was commissioned by a beautiful single mum living in public housing. She told me that home ownership is out of the question for her, but after facing immense trauma and a lifetime of racism she wanted to invest in her space feeling like home.
The design was intuitive and artist-led, with only one request from the client - a lion central to the piece, a protector and strong presence to hold her through her healing journey.
Featuring many large monstera leaves, a plant that symbolises resilience, prosperity and abundance. The holes in monstera leaves are an evolutionary adaptation that allow the harsher elements of wind & rain to pass through without causing damage to the plant. A representation of beauty & hope in imperfection, of healing & transformation through pain.
The central flower is Sampaguita - the national flower of the Phillipines. It symbolises love & divine hope. One of its’ most unique qualities is that it wilts by day & blooms by night. Blossoming in spite of darkness! Epic.
There is also a lightning bolt for power & intuition, & a blue flame for transformation, renewal & wisdom.
Whilst painting I realised I wanted to add a symbol for her son, but when I looked at the design again I realised I’d already done it. The central spiral & sun came out intuitively while sketching, and I realise now that it is a symbol of the eternal love and bond between mother and son. The winding journey a parent will take for their child to shine.

CLIENT RESPONSE;
“Eden is a rare kind of artist.
From our first conversation, she managed to understand exactly what I needed for my bedroom mural, even when I couldn't find the words to describe it myself. She handled every step of the project with immense professionalism, care, and flexibility, including working with me financially. Putting my trust in her vision paid off completely. The finished mural has transformed my room, and I’m honored to have her work in my space. Highly, highly recommended.”
