I sketched this baby out on the drive from Ulaanbaatar to the festival grounds, after a trip to the National Museum & Chinggis Khan Museum.

The energy in Mongolia is potent & intense - it is a land of extreme contrast & beauty, & this is reflected in the nature & spirit of the people I met. I resonate deeply with the Mongolian mentality, & wanted to reflect this in my piece;

A yin yang dance between a Mongolian wolf & a dingo, balancing the light & the dark, the day & the night. Stars, moons & suns honour the folk traditions of celestial worship, & the connection to nature & land that is deeply rooted in both modern & traditional culture. The central flower is the national flower of Mongolia, бэр цэцэг (Ber Tsetseg), a symbol of peace. The border is called Алхан хээ (hammer pattern), a common adornment on furniture, gers & other buildings. It represents unending strength, perpetual motion, and the continuity of life.
