Darling Dhungala Delights

Strawberry Fields Festival, 2024

Dimensions / 3.6 m x 2.4 m

This mural is a celebration of the native flora that surrounds Dhungala/The Murray River. Muyan (Silver Wattle), Burgan, Blyala (River Red Gum) and the Darling Pea are the species highlighted within this work. The choice of these plants was inspired by both research and reflections on my personal experiences attending the festival over the years.

The purple-blue represents the surrounding sky and water, the red reflects the many hearts that come together in the Wildlands annually to enjoy music, art and nature, and the pale orange is that famous Strawberry sunset stretching its final light across the Murray waters.
